17.Mar.2010 That rare thing, the Blue Daisy
A lot of artists talk of defying genre; resisting categories and labels which they feel are unsympathetic to their creative vision. Despite this, genre does play an important role in aesthetic positioning and of course musical influence. In this context, grows the Blue Daisy. His influences are clear, but his genre affiliation is not, as he skips across the bpm range from one sound to another. In doing so, he embodies everything we at STATE push for in the our club night; simply, sound. Perhaps the new sound, perhaps the London sound, perhaps the sound of a particular time or future existence never to be, but sound all the same. And sound in it’s most beautiful, majestic form is what Blue Daisy will be bringing to our next event – Chapter Two: The Soldier – and we are proud to have him.
For a sample the Blue Daisy sound, check out this mix he put together for Drowned in Sound.
As an alternative, check out the mix put together for The Quietus via Sonic Router (both equally excellent in their own right). Hit the link for an insightful interview and mix (sorry – no player).
Finally, some examples of Blue Daisy’s awesome production work for you.
